New things

There has been so much that has transpired since I last posted on this blog.  If you are a regular customer, you know that my business partner, Dougie McLellan, left Fender Musical Instruments and came on board full-time with the shop over a year ago.  That makes three of us now who are full-time guitar technicians with Guitar Repair Shack.  Adam Richer handles our north shop and Dougie and I run the south location.  We also have had a couple of part-timers.  Josh Shoemaker is our newest addition and you will be hearing from him on this blog regularly in the near future.
In September of last year, we took over the space across the hall at our south location and expanded, adding 400+ square feet.  We already had a wall of parts but with the new space we added more walls of parts, fun and useful accessories, and consignment guitars and amps.  We have named this venture, Guitar Shack, which is included as the new name of this blog.  We also launched the Amp Repair Shack which offers repairs on amplifiers and pedals.  If you have tried to have an amp or pedal repaired in the city, you probably found out very quickly that there is a very short list of qualified technicians and they all have a very long turn around time.  Since this aspect of our business is new, we have the best of both worlds- a very qualified technician and a very good turn-around time.
If that wasn't enough, we also are offering guitar lessons and clinics on Saturdays with Ralf Buschmeyer, (http://ralfmusic.com/bio/).  Ralf has been a mainstay on so many levels in the music scene in Calgary.  We are so pleased to be able to have him offering some exciting clinics through our venue.  The clinics are drop-in and happen every Saturday.  We will list them on our Facebook page on a regular basis.  He also offers private lessons at our venue and his own.
In the near future, you will see this blog listing our current consignment pieces as well as new accessories and parts that might spark your interest.  I should mention that in 2014 we became dealers for Lollar pickups which adds to our TV Jones, Fender, Gibson, and Seymour Duncan pickup selection.  We also offer various amplifier tubes now and hope to build our current selection as time goes on.  If you haven't been by the shop lately, please stop in for a visit and see our new space.
